According to Olufemi, Cyber threat is deemed any malicious activity that attempts to compromise the integrity, confidentiality and availability of an information system. They include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Social engineering<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Phishing<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Malware<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Distributed denial of service attacks (DDOS)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hacking<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Identity Theft<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SMiShing<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cyber Stalking<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Spoofing<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ransomeware<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cyber Bullying<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He went on to state that Nigeria suffered 3,500 cyberattacks in 2015 and lost over Billions of Naira because of a lack of cybersecurity education. He gave the following tips about Malware:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Malware definitely exists on other operating systems (OSes) outside of Windows.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Windows is typically the major target due to high market share.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0When new malware is released on other OSes, it typically has a high penetration rate due to people believing their Android, Mac, and Linux devices are safe without having any endpoint security installed.st<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Note: Check your email if it has been <\/span><\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/haveibeenpwned.com\/\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">https:\/\/haveibeenpwned.com\/<\/span><\/i><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><b>How to stay safe on the internet:<\/b><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Stay on top of all patch releases and apply them regularly.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> If at all possible, replace older Windows systems with the latest versions.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Be extremely suspicious of all emails particularly those containing\u00a0<\/span>attachments or weblinks which you might be asked to open.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Users should watch out for unsolicited emails. If you are not sure of the\u00a0<\/span>source of an email, DO NOT OPEN links or any attachments in it.
